Q Answering the Questions. In this ending course reflection journal entry, you will be participating in role play. The first part of the ending journal entry will be written as if you were the theorist you selected, and will be written in first person of that theorist. You can begin your role play by giving a little background about “who you are, the era in which you were born, and possibly what society may have been like during that time. Be sure to write this as if you ARE that theorist – use the word “I”. You will then proceed in your role play and discuss the most prominent theory that YOU, the theorist, believes was the most important to YOUR society and why. Talk about the theory and what it suggested or asserted, and then talk about how that theory may have changed YOUR society during that time frame. This ends the role play part of this course reflection. Wasn’t that fun? Conclude your discussion by answering the following questions from your own perspective: 1. Why did you select to write about this specific theorist? 2. What do you see as his benefit to sociology? 3. Is there anything about him that you found interesting/amusing/entertaining? Why or why not? 4. What do you think his reaction would be to our society today if he could come back, and why do you think he may have that reaction? Looking back. Now it’s time to address if your opinion is still the same as it was in your beginning journal entry or if you have changed your mind. Support that opinion with an example.
